Our commitment to the communities in which we live and work is motivated by our responsibility to be a good corporate citizen and our desire to be a good neighbor.
Erica Groschler believes strongly in giving back and contributing to the communities in which we live and work. She volunteers her time, money, and expertise on a regular basis for worthy causes and local organizations. Some of the worthy causes she has participated in include:
The Weekend to End Breast Cancer:
For one amazing weekend, thousands of women and men unite to walk 60 km all over Vancouver city in a bold display of courage and commitment. It’s a weekend of hope, to honor lives lost, celebrate survivors, and help bring an end to breast cancer to those who so desperately need it. Erica raised over $5,500 and her team of eight moms raised over $50,000 in two years, contributing to the $10 million dollars raised for breast cancer research since 2005. As Erica shared with her donors: “I really thought this would be my last year doing this walk. But, as long as there are women walking beside me who are fighting this cause and fighting their own disease, it seems I am inspired to keep on walking and making a difference.” To view Erica’s fundraising efforts or to donate for her walk, click on her personal page.
Maccabi Games:
Every year, thousands of athletes participate in an Olympic-style competition in concurrent cities across North America and Europe. In 2006, Vancouver hosted 1200 teenagers from Mexico, United States, South Africa, Israel and England who competed in landsports, water sports and dance. Erica volunteered on the Transportation committee, working with the bus company and ensured that teens were routed correctly to and from their competitions. This was an awe-inspiring event and she was able to put her organizational skills and even her facilitation skills to the test!
Children’s Foundation:
Erica uses her professional background to support local non-profit organizations through facilitation of strategic planning, team development and visioning sessions. One such organization Erica has worked with is the Children’s Foundation. While working with them she discovered their need for computers and a fax machine and was able to secure the equipment through donation by a local Vancouver company. |
