Organizational Design Analysis
Needs Assessment: This organizational / departmental scan focuses on causes that impact employee performance (e.g. insufficient resources, unclear expectations, skill deficiency, insufficient feedback mechanisms, etc). It examines employees’ current performance levels and identifies the client’s desired performance, providing a summary of findings as well as recommendations to eliminate gaps.
SWOT Analysis: (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) This focuses on identifying factors that both support and potentially hinder a department or organization from achieving its goals. It acts as a data point in assessing the “current” state as well as identifying the future state (i.e, opportunities).
Job Analysis: This assessment is done typically when there is confusion re: different roles within a department and in which there may be ambiguity between functions. The process involves mapping out various job roles and making transparent any overlaps. .
Mind Mapping:This analysis helps to identify trends and issues impacting a particular department or organization and provides a graphical representation of these issues. It acts as data to encourage dialogue amongst the group and works well in conjunction with the SWOT analysis.
Training Analysis
Learner Analysis: As advocates for the learners, TPS Consulting gathers information to ensure that the materials to be produced are targeted to learners’ particular learning needs, aptitudes and attitudes.
Context Analysis: This analysis focuses on the context and environment in which the solution will be delivered. The intent is to identify potential obstacles and adapt strategies earlier in the development process, thereby reducing unnecessary costs and preventing implementation difficulties.
Task Analysis: This analysis provides a complete portrait of all tasks and sub-tasks that the learner must master to attain desired performance. This analysis provides the foundation for any training to be developed.
Training Audits: This process involves an assessment of clients’ existing instructional materials (print-based or Web-based). A report is submitted assessing overall instructional effectiveness and includes a detailed set of recommendations.
Training Delivery Audit: This involves an audit of instructors’ training delivery skills on-site (or observing a video-tape) as well as providing coaching on instructors’ delivery skills for improving the training.
